Selection Guide
How to Choose Egyptian Marble
For export orders, marble selection usually starts with appearance and application, then moves to format, finish and quantity. These are the points our sales team reviews with buyers before preparing a quotation. For a closer comparison of the colour families, see our guide to Egyptian marble types. To match a stone to floors, stairs or walls, see choosing Egyptian marble for flooring, stairs and wall cladding.
Colour & Tone
Confirm the colour family (beige, cream, grey or brown) and how closely the stone must match existing materials, design samples or a previous order.
Veining & Movement
Fossil detail, veining and natural movement differ from one marble to another. Calm, even stones suit large uniform floors; more figured stones suit feature walls and statement areas.
Surface Finish
Polished surfaces bring out colour and depth. Honed, brushed and textured finishes give a matte appearance or added grip for floors, wet areas and exterior surfaces.
Thickness & Format
Standard thicknesses of 20 mm and 30 mm are listed for materials such as Galala. Slabs, tiles and cut-to-size pieces are prepared to your required dimensions.
Application & Location
Egyptian marbles are generally recommended for interior use, with selected finishes suited to exterior areas. Share where and how each surface will be used so a suitable stone and finish can be proposed.
Quantity & Consistency
Natural stone varies between blocks and production batches. For larger quantities, material is selected for colour consistency across the order, and samples can be requested for project evaluation.
Surface Finishes
Marble Finishes
Egyptian marbles such as Galala and Egy Grey are offered in up to ten surface finishes. Availability depends on the material and format, so the finishes confirmed for each stone are listed on its material page. Our marble finishes guide explains how each finish looks and where it performs best.
- Polished — high-gloss surface for interior floors and feature walls
- Honed — smooth matte finish for floors and countertops
- Brushed — soft texture with subtle grip for floors and wet areas
- Sandblasted — even anti-slip texture for exterior paving and steps
- Bush-hammered — rustic textured surface for exterior cladding and paving
- Split face — rugged natural face for feature walls and facades
- Rough — natural split texture for cladding and landscaping
- Antique / acid — softened, aged look for classic interiors and walls
- Leather — low-sheen tactile finish for countertops and vanities
- Flamed — textured anti-slip surface for exterior floors and steps
